Please do not attempt this modification as it can severely alter your instrument’s sound & playability. An experienced repair & set up technician has the knowledge of how much bridge saddle material to take off using the proper tools. Lowering the saddle’s height too much will cause the strings to buzz or, in extreme circumstances, cause the strings to lay flat on the fretboard. Even after purchasing a new saddle, you will need to have it fine-tuned to your own instrument by a professional technician. Please note that our standard string height at the 12th fret for all ukuleles is 3mm, and 4mm for the U-Bass. If your action is adjusted any lower than this, you will likely hear string buzz.

The question was how to lower the U-bass saddle. Assume I am an experienced luthier. Do not answer leave it to a guitar tech, this is a question a guitar tech would ask.
This is a piezo saddle. How do we lower it from up around 6mm to the correct 4mm? Which side to shave off or is it better to cut slots with the nut files?
